Dr. Maria Busen-Smith

Dr. Maria Busen-Smith has been involved in music education in London for over 40 years. Having supported and evaluated arts projects for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, Spitalfields Festival and London Arts Board in the early part of her career, she was appointed to and taught in the Music Department at Kingston University from 1993-2021. Among her many roles she organized intercultural projects, reviewed for Routledge, managed a transnational music degree based in Hong Kong and assessed music performance in a variety of world genres. She founded two substantial work experience schemes for Kingston students with independent studios, central London publishers and three local music hubs. She is currently a Trustee for the Thames Concerts series in London, a member of the Wandsworth Fringe Festival Arts Committee at All Saints Church in Tooting where she helps organize community concerts and Programme Manager in English for Academic Purposes teaching BSc and MBA business students.
